Distilling Emotion
Taxonomies began with a stream of consciousness series of sketches. Each image began by building up imagery as it came to mind with minimal filtering. The interwoven net of beads, shells, and found objects below each frame visually depicts the nature of thought - where each bead and knot is a passing notion connected by an unending thought process. These works use the natural world as metaphor for some of the many different attitudes of thought. Sometimes a thought is fleeting, serpentine, venomous, or faceted,and this series seeks to depict that.
