Milagros & Sisters

This series is made of up two paired works separately called Milagros and Sisters. All four works relate to issues of health and vitality. Creating these sculptural works was a way of coming to terms with the struggles of illness in my family. These works embody my hopes and prayers for health for those I love. Milagros is a naturalistic take on the sacred heart and speaks to the tradition of leaving behind sacred images or votives as petitions for healing. Sisters visually depicts the close, indescribable bond I have with my own sister and my hope for her recovery after a difficult year of illness and injury.
